We are Drs. Katie and Gregory Donihoo and we founded The Couch Psychology Center to combat a growing problem. We experienced many men and couples seeking therapy for the same thing - men are struggling with emotional escape through pornography, affairs, working too much, maximizing “me time” and fighting or fleeing in the middle of conversations. Men need a place to be understood, feel comfortable and still get the much-needed answers to help them re-engage in their lives. We believe in being transparent about what we do. You’ll get direct feedback and a clear path toward your goals. Our primary office is located in McKinney, TX just north of Dallas where we can conduct in-person sessions. Additionally, we are licensed in California and Texas, offering Virtual sessions to any client residing anywhere in those states.

I specialize in working with women who have experienced betrayal trauma. Trauma in an intimate relationship can feel like your world is crashing down, you’re paralyzed with indecision and you don’t know how to move forward. I use a combination of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and EMDR to guide individuals toward forward momentum again. My approach is gentle and straightforward, creating a clear path at your pace.

I look into early life attachments and see how you've learned to cope with stress. I also use emotionally focused therapy (EFT), Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT) and EMDR to safely process emotions and feel resolution in session. EMDR and ETT help when we logically know something is irrational, but we can't seem to shake the feelings. I teach men how their relationships, neurochemistry and emotions are related.
